Then I stopped and got off for a few minutes. Now when I turn the ignition nothing happens ?" So to answer;

I completely understand your situation. It sounds like your fuse blew to me. I recently helped a friend with this same problem, as he was unaware that there was a fuse. It will take some work to get to it though.

The fuse block location may vary with the age and style of the mower, but is generally located along the wiring harness between the battery and the key switch.

On current style riding mowers, the fuse will either be:
A) Under the hood, behind the steering dash panel.
OR
B) Underneath and behind the battery, located beneath the seat.
Note: The battery may need to be removed for access to this fuse block. Always disconnect the black (negative) battery cable first and re-connect the black (negative) battery cable last.

On the vintage (pre-1999) box frame style riding mowers, the fuse is located underneath the service access panel, under the front edge of the seat. To access this fuse, unscrew any control knobs and screws that fasten the panel down. Then, gently lift the plate up and look inside along the right-hand side of the tractor. The fuse will then be exposed. Inspect or replace fuse as needed. The fuse used on most riding mowers is a 20 ampere, 12 volt, automotive-type, two-prong, flat-blade fuse.

Hi, I will be glad to try to help you.

The first thing I would check is to make sure that you turned off the mower deck when you got off. If the mower was left on, then the safety switch in/on the switch will prevent the unit from turning over.

Also there is a switch on the brake/clutch pedal that will also cause this same issue. (I this is a Lawn tractor)

If you have a ZTR... then the switches on the parking brake will cause this if the parking brake is not on.

There are switches on the motion levers that will prevent the starter from operating if the levers are not in the proper starting position.
