I have a TB...

I have a TB 30 r lawn tractor. It is intermittently unable to shift into reverse or forward. I have to move the tractor back and forth a bit before it catches. What could be the issue?

Mechanic's Assistant: I'll do all I can to help. How long have you been dealing with this?

Since last summer. Becoming more frequent.

Mechanic's Assistant: Do you plan on doing the work yourself?

Yes, if it is something I am comfortable with.

Are you saying that your shifter lever is hard to shift into forward and reverse, or are you saying that your mower does not move immediately after you shift to forward and reverse positions?

it shifts fine. But then when I take brake off. It does not move. I shift my wait back and forth and then it kicks into gear

If your drive belts have not been replaced, I do believe new belts will resolve our problem.

If you remove your battery and battery holder, you will have a clear view to inspect your belts.

Check for cracks and wear patterns in your drive belts. When I am back at my computer, I can post some instructions.

If you remove your mower deck from your mower, you will have much easier access to your belts.
