I am looking for a propane generator to charge my single phase off-grid solar system which has a 12kW inverter/battery

Customer: I am looking for a propane generator to charge my single phase off-grid solar system which has a 12kW inverter/battery charger. I understand that I should size my generator 1.5 x the watts of my inverter which would mean an 18kW generator. I can only find the 15kW generac Eco-gen 7034 specifically designed for off grid (two wire connection, I believe) application. Does Generac make a larger off-grid generator? If not, is there a kit available to connect two Eco-gens 7034 in parallel for a total of 30kW back-up power?
JA: What's the make and model of the generator? And can you guesstimate how old it is?
Customer: Please read my question as I am looking to buy an off-grid generator. I do not already have one.
JA: Do you plan on doing the work yourself?
Customer: Yes, however I have access to an electrician if needed

Hello, my name is ***** ***** I an going to assist you with this.
Although not specifically designed for off grid applications, the Synergy series of gensets is adaptable to 2 wire start, and is available in sizes up to 22kW.
Adapting to 2 wire start requires a technicians password, so you would need to have a certified technician do the actual setup/programming.

Will using synergy he set in an off-grid application, void the warranty? If so and there are no other generators larger the the Generac eco gen 7034 designer specifically for off-grid will the 15Kw work with my system to keep the batteries charged?

That is something I have never been asked before, and wasn't sure.

But digging through my huge pile of dealer materials, I find that the Synergy series is not covered by warranty if used in a Prime Power (Off grid) situation.

The Ecogen is the only series that would be covered by a warranty.

To go back to your question about using 2 Ecogens, yes, there is equipment available that would allow you to tie 2 gensets together, but it is very, very costly.

If your unit is an inverter/charger, I would think that a 15kW genset should be able to handle the task, IF you use great load management practices.
