Hi Curtis, I have a 48V (8 - 6V) Electric Yamaha Golf Cart (2010) that is experiencing intermittent, sudden jerking. Battery connections are all tight and each battery was at 6V after charge. It almost feels like an engine would with a cylinder that occasionally misfires. Any ideas?
Thanks, ***** *****

Battery pack over 54 volts when fully charged? All batteries over 6.4 volts? No brakes dragging?

Ask Your Own Small Engine Question
Customer reply replied 10 months ago
When fully charged, my meter is showing 6.0 V on each battery and 45 V overall. It is an older Micronta meter and I am not sure it is being accurate on 100 DCV scale. Not notice of any breke dragging when rolling along.
Technician: Curtis B., Technician replied 10 months ago

Batteries are low, or meter is not accurate! What does meter read on pack when charger is plugged in?

Ask Your Own Small Engine Question
Customer reply replied 10 months ago
No change to voltage readings with charger plugged in. The charger did turn to 'charged' in about 2 minutes.
Technician: Curtis B., Technician replied 10 months ago

Either charger has problem, or your meter needs to be checked! Charger may not be charging the pack.

I will get another meter to validate battery readings. Is possible low voltage causing solenoid to drop?
Technician: Curtis B., Technician replied 10 months ago

YES

I am not getting what I was expecting. If voltage is not as high as it should be, it is higher than reduced voltage after long trip. Solenoid should not drop out. What about controller?
Technician: Curtis B., Technician replied 10 months ago

Can be foot switch or the controller. What voltages are you getting?

I want to stop this game of chasing voltage without a clear understanding of a 48V electric golf cart. I have not seen any clear expert advice. I expect that the $18 charged to my credit card will be funded immediately.
Technician: Curtis B., Technician replied 10 months ago

Without a clear understanding of how to read a meter, and understand that a cart has to have 48 volts to run, anything less and it it drops out, you are destined to have to take cart in for service. Sorry.
