Customer Question

Hello Hank.
I too have the Troy built 01925 generator. I tried your reset the magnetic field and got power. However, it drops off line when I put a load on it. Just a regular 60w bulb drops it from 122v down to 116v. My 12v rec is only producing 9v. What causes that?

Hello, thank you for requesting me.

When you plug the light bulb in, does the engine slow down, also, or does the voltage just drop?

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
Just a voltage drop.

Ok.

I also forgot to ask - did this unit get wet?

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
No it did not get wet.

Ok.

If you are getting voltage drop with no change in engine speed, your voltage regulator is most likely bad.

But this can also mean a problem in the generator windings - that is not something you would be able to test for, as it reuires some very expensive equipment.
