We are having issues with our Troybilt lawn tractor loosing

Customer Question

We are having issues with our Troybilt lawn tractor loosing belts, either coming off or breaking. Any suggestions. We are on #3 this summer already and just broke another.
JA: I'll do all I can to help. How long have you been dealing with this?
Customer: Just this summer. Mower is about 4 years old.
JA: What's the make and model of the mower? And can you guesstimate how old it is?
Customer: I am asking my son now.
JA: Do you plan on doing the work yourself?
Customer: My son probably will if not too involved.
JA: Anything else we should know to help you best?
Customer: I don't have an easy yard but it worked fine for the first couple of years.

When you replaced the last belt did you check for stick, rock, etc in the pullies/belt area? Also did you check for worn or loose pullies?
Expert:  Bill McCusker replied 11 days ago.
Also check for pullies that bearnings might have failed and locked up..

It will run for awhile maybe 1/2 acre before it comes off or breaks.
Expert:  Bill McCusker replied 11 days ago.
I would check and inspect all of your pullies.. either the belt is rubbing up on the pully the wrong way causing it to cut the belt.. or something is stuck in the pully causeing the pully to tear

Thank you. I will have my son check. He has had the deck off and inspected but could have missed something.
