Need instruction to set the governor on a 6hp Briggs engine.

Customer Question

Need instruction to set the governor on a 6hp Briggs engine. Someone changed it and I want to get it back to factory setting.
JA: Can you guesstimate how old the engine is? And has it done anything like this in the past?
Customer: The model is 12H802-268-B1
JA: Do you plan on doing the work yourself?
Customer: yes
JA: Anything else we should know to help you best?
Customer: It will run but won't speedup when it gets in high grass. The throttle doesn't have much control over the engine speed.

Hello, remove the shroud and starter housing to access the governor arm and shaft. Loosen the nut and push the gov lever to the wide open position and rotate the gov shaft in the same direction and tighten nut. Start engine and check rpm's with tachometer (if available). If further adjustment is needed bend arm that gov spring is attached to out to increase or in to decrease rpm's.
