I have a troy bilt pony lawn tractor that seems to coast when its in the forward gear going downhill

Customer: I bought the tractor from a friend so its new to me just trying to iron the kinks out so i can use it

are you trying to brake on the downhill?

The lawn mower doesnt have a brake pedal. If it helps its a Troy Bilt Pony model number 13wn77ks011

the model that is shown for that has a brake pedal on the left floor board, is your a hydrostatic? or do you shift gears? Do you have any pictures I could see of the model?

The pedal on the left is a clutch. It uses belts

ok that is also your brake, so those units use the rear axle to do its braking, they can get worn out easy, I will send you a video explaining how to adjust the brakes and if the hill is steep go down in first gear to get the cut and use the gears to slow the tractor if you try to brake then the tractor will take off,
