Where is the oil pressure sending unit located on a Perkins

Customer Question

Where is the oil pressure sending unit located on a Perkins 4.236 marine engine? Every mechanic in Bermuda is flat out until the Americas Cup in 2 weeks.
JA: Did you double-check the thermostat? And what about the unit's filters?
Customer: Oil pressure gauge has stopped working
JA: Do you plan on doing the work yourself?
Customer: Unless you want to jump on a plane I am stuck doing it myself
JA: Anything else we should know to help you best?
Customer: The engine was fully serviced about 3 weeks ago

It is located on the port lower rear under the oil cooler just above the pan gasket, but in some cases it is located differently.

If the cooler is not on the port side you may find it just aft of the oil dip-stick on the port side just behind and under the fuel injection pump
