Customer Question

I have a briggs 125212 0140-01 That the carb will not draw gas. it will start on starting fluid but does not draw up gas. I think the problem is I do not have the short suction tub in the carb. I do have one but I can not find a place to place it. Help.
JA: Do you have fuel in the tank? If so, is the shut-off valve open and the fuel clean?

Hi I'm Wayne

I will help you with this

What are we working on,

and how long was the gas sitting in the tank

Customer: replied 6 months ago.
The gas is fresh the motor is on a chipper

will it run if you leave the choke on ?

Customer: replied 6 months ago.
Fresh gas. Will not run with choke on. Each time that I remove the carb from the tank the little cup that gets fuel from the long tube has no gas. I filled the tank to the top still will not run . I have replaced the long tube and flushed the carb with carb cleaner and air. I have determined that the short tub does not go on this carb. It has a metal intake built in the carb.

Did you replace the pick up tube

That is what seems to be your issue

Customer: replied 6 months ago.
The pick up tube was replaced. the old one was broken

Sorry for all the questions, but I am not there

was it doing the same thing before the P/U tube replaced

Customer: replied 6 months ago.
This chipper was placed in the alley. I asked the home owner if he had placed it there to get rid of it, he said yes. I can only assume that he was in able to start it. It is a direct drive which makes it hard to start with the rope. So that is why I thought he had placed it in the alley. I do not know anything other than it had old gas in the tank, but no rust.

New story

I suggest to rebuild carb or replace it

disassemble it

if rebuild , boil out in a pot of hot water for 10-15 min

air dry, then instal a rebuild kit

but you are better off replacing carb

I hope this helped you
