Just assembled 550ex victa mower and the throttle will not

Customer Question

just assembled 550ex victa mower and the throttle will not move. Hesitate to use brute force. Happy new year also.
JA: Thanks. Same to you!
Customer: Are we still in contact?
JA: What's the make and model of the mower? And can you guesstimate how old it is?
Customer: It is a Victa 550ex briggs mower, new born today. Xmas pressi for my darling wife!!!
JA: Do you plan on doing the work yourself?
Customer: Depends on the likely hood of stuffing it up.
JA: Anything else we should know to help you best?
Customer: Throttle is just plastic, can I just force it??

Hi, my name is***** will be assisting you.

Does this engine have the smart start feature on it or does it have a primer?

If it has smart start with no primer then NO you don't want to try to move the throttle because you will damage the choke system. The smart start system has an automatic choke system that is tied to the throttle linkage and if you force the throttle linkage you can break the choke assembly and create more issues for yourself.

Thank you it has been a pleasure to assist you.
