Customer Question

have a craftsman yard tractor with a cv730S-0044 engine and i think the fuel pump is finished. is there a way to test the fuel pump before ordering a $56 replacement?
JA: Can you guesstimate how old the engine is? And has it done anything like this in the past?
Customer: i have the serial #. can you tell from that??(###) ###-####
JA: Do you plan on doing the work yourself?
Customer: yes... it's only two screws and three hoses....
JA: Anything else we should know to help you best?
Customer: the area of the engine cover directly behind the fuel pump shows stains that could be from leakage. i'm not sure but it looks suspicious..

Hello welcome to just answers. My name is ***** ***** see if we can solve this together.
The best way to test the fuel pump is remove the fuel line to the carb and turn over the engine. How those fuel pumps works is crank case pressure moving the diaphragm pump..
