We just picked up an old Murray 2004 riding mower 387002x92A

Customer Question

Hi, we just picked up an old Murray 2004 riding mower 387002x92A from patents. It has always started well and ran. It worked fine until we got it home and tried tomstart it
JA: Do you have fuel in the tank? If so, is the shut-off valve open and the fuel clean?
Customer: it wouldn't turn over. kept trying and then it did nothing. charged battery. jumped battery and tried strating off new battery. nothing. Bypassed the solenoid and it started with cables attached. once cables removed, it died. replaced solenoid it tried to over again, then stopped trying. replaced spark plugs. nothing. has clean fuel, oil and air filter.
JA: Do you plan on doing the work yourself?
Customer: probably.... not very handy, just googling and looking at the parts manual and troubleshooting guide.
JA: Anything else we should know to help you best?
Customer: no

Engine make and model? Remove spark plug, and with it grounded to the engine, see if you have spark when cranking. If it has spark, put a teaspoon of fuel into the spark plug hole, re-install the spark plug and see if engine will start for a few seconds.
