I have an generator that at it starts the fuel pump does not

Customer Question

I have an generator that at it starts the fuel pump does not keep up. Then it runs out of fuel and dies. I can prime it up again but this keeps happening. I replaced the pump, but same outcome. I thought that maybe the line in the tank could be bad, but I put a line into a can and same outcome. Seems like the pump isn't running when the engine starts?
JA: Do you have fuel in the tank? If so, is the shut-off valve open and the fuel clean?
Customer: I put the line into a open can.
JA: Do you plan on doing the work yourself?
Customer: yes

Okay, sorry for this, but this is out of my expertise as I am not familiar with RV Generators. I will OPT OUT and let another expert take over to help you. Please do not respond as it will lock me to the question again and others will not be able to help. Good Luck, and sorry I couldn't be of assistance

OK.

Remove the cover from the control panel. Be careful - those 4 screws are tiny and easily dropped.

Inside the control box, you will see a 2-pin tab with 3 wires attached to it. All 3 wires will be numbered "14".

Connect a test light or a voltmeter set to DCV to that tab.

Start the genset.

While the genset is cranking and running, that tab should read 12V.

Does it?

Follow the fuel pump wire. Does it connect to this tab?
