Customer Question

I have a 2006 Kohler engine, CV 15S, 41594, Ser#3030408293. Just doing some routine maintenance and was going to check the valve stem clearance. Appears to be none. What's up?

You are correct. Your engine does have hydraulic lifters, so this eliminates the need for adjusting your valve lashes. You have done a very good job of covering everything. Did you have gas inside your crankcase?

The black smoke was likely caused by your carburetor flooding. Now that you have rebuilt your carburetor, I do believe that our problem has been resolved. I would also replace your air filter.
