Head light wire shorted out, cut and taped it. replaced the fuse. still won't crank.

Customer: Yes
JA: Anything else we should know to help you best?
Customer: Fuse did not seem to blow as I would have thought it would .Just melted outside

Do you have voltmeter or test light to see if the fuse holder has power to the keyswitch side? If fuse got that hot, the fuse holder can be bad, Try bypassing it for test.
