john deere 345 mower aprox 18 years old. turn key on and tractor engine contuines to crank even when you turn the key to 1st no start will not fire contuines to crank.

If you remove the single switch wire on the starter solenoid, does it still crank? If not, there is voltage getting to this wire from somewhere. It should come direct from the keyswitch. But it may be feeding back through the voltage regulator. Try unplugging the regulator if it is not the solenoid.
