When I engage the cutting blade lever, the blade starts to

Customer Question

When I engage the cutting blade lever, the blade starts to turn, but when it gets a little speed on it the rotation stops. It will do this for a couple of times and then the next time it will just not act like it going to engage at all, and the engine keeps running.
JA: Do you have fuel in the tank? If so, is the shut-off valve open and the fuel clean?
Customer: Yes, that is a stupid question. The engine runs ALL THE TIME.
JA: Do you plan on doing the work yourself?
Customer: I always plan to, but will give up, if it is a problem beyond reason.
JA: Anything else we should know to help you best?
Customer: Gee, I don't know. It has oil in it.
JA: OK. Got it. I'm sending you to a secure page on JustAnswer so you can place the $5 fully-refundable deposit now. While you're filling out that form, I'll tell the Small Engine Technician about your situation and then connect you two.

Deere LT150, with a manually engaged blades? Lever to engage the blades, has a spring on the end of it, that pulls the idler against the deck drive belt. With engine Off, engage the clutch with the lever and then check the belt for tightness . Is the belt tight, is the spring in place?
