d110 riding mower motor is running great but when u go to start it it will snub and not turn over unless u turn the flywheel back abit then it will back fire and start

The valves may be too loose, keeping the compression release from working properly. Check valve lash, needs to be ,004 to .006 inch on both intake and exhaust. If valve adjustment does not help,the compression release is likley broken. Check compression and if 100 psi or higher, the compression release is broken. It is a spring loaded lever on the back side of the camshaft gear. Repair would be to replace the camshaft!
