I have an Onan 4BGEFA26100M and it starts OK but shuts down

Customer Question

I have an Onan 4BGEFA26100M and it starts OK but shuts down as soon as I release the starter button. If I hold the starter button in it seems to run just fine. Obviously I don't want to do that but I did run it that way for about 20 seconds. Any ideas?

This is most often caused by the genset no longer producing any power. But first check the oil level. Low oil pressure will also cause the control to shut the unit down when you release the start switch.
