Customer Question

I have a 445 chainsaw. Recently the stop switch started to not work all the time, so I had to use the full choke to shut it off. Now the switch won't work at all, so I always have to choke it. What can I try at home before I take it to a repairman? I live a looong way from any repair services.

Kill switch grounds out the coil to kill the engine. Check the switch and see if it is grounding. Most likely you just need to order a new switch and install it. It has two wires, one comes direct from coil, the other goes to ground. Switch connects the two to kill the spark.

Did you find switch to be bad or was it ground wire problem?
