Hi my name is ***** ***** welcome to Just Answer do you have a multimeter

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
I do
Expert:  Briggs-Fan replied 1 year ago.

Ok have you tested to see if your stator or alternator is bad , put the multimeter on 20 dc volts then check the battery with the z turn off , then start it and check while it's running if the alternator is working it should be 2 volts higher .

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
Is 2 volts lower how do I know when the regulator goes bad
Expert:  Briggs-Fan replied 1 year ago.

If when it's running the battery just drops in voltage then you know it's not recharging the battery when running

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
that means the regulator needs to be replace
Expert:  Briggs-Fan replied 1 year ago.

It should be the stator or alternator , let me pull a diagram of your engine

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
Is the stator the alternator or is 2 diferet parts
Expert:  Briggs-Fan replied 1 year ago.
