i have a GP6500 that locks up on the cord as well as the electric start.
if it does cycle through, it pops through the (new) carb on every cycle.
any thoughts?

Hi my name is ***** ***** welcome to Just Answer . It sounds like the valves . If the valves don't open and close on time I can cause the motor to struggle through the compression stroke and can cause backfiring through the carburetor when you replaced the carburetor did you check the oil to see if it smells like gas as well ?

Have you pulled the valve cover and looked at the valves yet ? If not we should and I will try to get valve clearances so we can see if they need adjusting
