First thing need to get engine running. If you loosen the bleed screw at the incoming hose to the injection pump body , do you get a flow of fuel with no air? Is the kill lever on the linkage in the open position and not the kill position? Has fuel filter been replaced?

With gravity flow system, you should have fuel flowing at the injection pump body when the bleed screw is opened.

The hydraulics have nothing to do with the injection system, they are complete different systems.

There is a filter/strainer on the opposite side of the transmission, from where the suction is for the pump supply. A cover is removed, and the oil drained and strainer comes out for cleaning.
