Hi my name is ***** ***** welcome to just answer, do you have the deflector off yet?

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
I thought I saw the correct routing for the spring, but it isn't working
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
The spring has a longer end on one side with a bend in it. The shorter one is straight
Expert:  Briggs-Fan replied 1 year ago.

The one with the bend should go into the deflector

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
ok. now how do I put tension on the spring?
Expert:  Briggs-Fan replied 1 year ago.

Is the model number 711193 ? , it didn't pull a diagram under that model number

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
sorry.71193

OK on your deflector is there a open slot where you can stick the part of the spring through ?

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
no
Expert:  Briggs-Fan replied 1 year ago.

OK it has to attach to the deflector first ten the smaller part yas to be turned so there is tension

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
let me go try that
Expert:  Briggs-Fan replied 1 year ago.

Attach it to the deflector then the small part of the spring that is pointing downwards has to be pulled back to lay fat on the deck , you can press it down and hold it in place while reattach in it , this puts tension to keep the deflector down

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
no luck
Expert:  Briggs-Fan replied 1 year ago.

How does the spring attach to the deflector ?

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
the rod goes through it. The spring ends must be just on the deflrctor surface and the metal housing to the mower somehow.
Expert:  Briggs-Fan replied 1 year ago.

OK when you put the rod through the deflector it should be the long end , now once that's put through is the other end pointing down ?

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
No. They both point in the same direction
Expert:  Briggs-Fan replied 1 year ago.

The long one has to go through the deflector , do that first then take the other one an pull it counter clockwise until it lays on the deck .

I am trying to send you a pix, but it is showing an unknown error. I have to run for now. Thanks
