I have a deere gx75. Won't start. Cranks and backfires

Customer Question

I have a john deere gx75. Won't start. Cranks and backfires through the carburetor. Removed carb, cleaned with carb cleaner and compressed air. Mower also sat for 2 years prior to me having it. When it was put away it ran but with an idle surge. Any help would be greatly appreciated! !

Have you checked the flywheel key ? It sounds like a timing or valve issue from what your describing . Also check your oil to see if it smells like gas or is thin
