Good morning Curtis, Andy here. Have a BS 18.5 V Twin on Cub Cadet, runs good then heats up, slowly starts surging, then surges quicker, then stops

Hi Andy my name is ***** ***** welcome to just answer, the 3 things a engine needs to run is spark , fuel and compression . Being a twin cylinder I don't think it will die with one coil loosing spark so first I'd check fuel , have you tried loosening the gas cap to make sure it's not vapor locking ? A bad gas cap will not breath and it restricts gas flow to the engine over time
