Working on a john deere lx279 and changed the fuel pump but

Customer Question

working on a john deere lx279 and changed the fuel pump but forgot to put the spacer block in and think the rod that goes to the fuel pump poked a hole in something since it will not start and does not have compression in one cylinder. What do you think I broke? Thanks

Remove the valve cover on the dead cylinder, and see if the valves are moving. If not, the camshaft is broken. Next would be to Remove the spark plug and with a probe, feel for the piston. Is it moving?
