I have an Onan Gen-set 4000. It starts ok, but shuts off after running one to hours. It seems like it's over heating. What do you think. Thanks

These gensets don't have any type of thermal protection, so it is not shutting down due to overheating - at least not directly.
It is possible that something in the ignition system is getting hot and braking down. It is pretty common.
It could be a magneto, coil, or ignition module, depending on which ignition system your unit uses.
