Customer Question

I have a z225, 18.5hp briggs engine. Using it the other day, I cut about 1/2 of our 2 acre lawn. I shut it off to move something, not it won't start. The PTO is off, the parking brake is on, the steering arms are open. When I turn the key, the starter motor "clicks" but the flywheel doesn't turn. I removed the cover for the motor. I can see the starter gear engage the flywheel gear, but it won't turn.

Welcome to JUST ANSWER small engines, let me try to help you !! Can you turn the engine manually? What is the battery voltage? Has to be above 12.5 volts for starter to engage. Safety switches are working or starter would not click.

Ok, didn't think to check it, it's a new battery & it started no problem & ran for about 2 hours. I'll get a new battery now, thanks

You may have a charging problem, but battery is dead!
