bought a jd300 with 42" cut & bagger...when engaging mower, mower engine struggles to get up to top cutting speed....after an hr of cutting, problem gets worse, if u try to cut the grass tube this a problem of the engine or cutting deck belts

It's really hard to say.If you leave the deck off does the engine rev up fine and if you mash the forward pedal does it really bog the engine like the deck does?If it does not bog the engine then the problem is going to be possibly a bad bearing in one of the spindles on the deck causing too much resistance.If it does bog then your problem is going to probably be either a dirty air cleaner, dirty carb, or misadjusted carb.If you determine it's not the deck you might try hitting the choke when it's bogging to see if that helps it at all.If it does then we know for sure it's lack of fuel.
