we are having trouble witth our super z mower. it has the Kawasaki fx850v engine and about 330 hours and is not keeping the battery charged. put in a new battery and it is still going dead after about an hour of mowing it will not have enough charge to start again. checked fuses and wiring all looks good from what I can see. Also having trouble with the deck clutch switch as it will not always kick in. changed the switch with a new one but still having the same problem. it will eventually kick in but takes several times kicking the switch on and off

Welcome to JUST ANSWER small engines, let me try to help you !! The stator/alternator is under the flywheel , and the two wires from it goes direct to the voltage regulator/rectifier. It can be tested with voltmeter. Stator is tested by unplugging it from the regulator and with the Voltmeter set on AC volts. Engine at speed, probe the two leads. Reading needs to be at least 28 volts AC . If it checks good, plug it back to the regulator, and set meter on DC volt, probe the output terminal of the regulator, it should be 1/2 of the stator in dc volts. Black meter lead to ground, red lead to the regulator output. Reading should be around 14 volts DC
