Customer Question

I've got a 1996 John Deere 425 with Kawasaki 20HP motor. I've got a starter that continues cranking even after releasing ignition key. I've replaced the ignition switch & module. (AM119974). Using test light seeing voltage at red wire feeding starter solenoid when key is switched to the crank position and also released to run position. With ignition switch is moved to off position no voltage present. This is same condition noted with units original ignition module. Any suggestion would be appreciated.

Welcome to JUST ANSWER small engines, let me try to help you !! Wiring schematic shows a relay between the key switch and the solenoid. If relay does not release, power stays on!------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Ignition switch module includes a circuit board that has two micro relays on it. Don't believe that relay is causing my issue. That was reason I replaced ignition switch module. Believe the solenoid is getting feed from another source?
