If a pressure washer is left running but isn't being used, the water contained in the pump overheats, which is why we have the relief valves in place. It's supposed to eject the hot water, and allow cool water to enter. Once cool, the valve is designed to close. If it is not resetting on it's own. It's time to replace it with a new one.
