I have a Troy Built (Briggs and Stratton) 5550w generator

Customer Question

Cancel. I no longer need answer....
I have a Troy Built (Briggs and Stratton) 5550w generator model 01919-1. It has a 10 hp B&S engine Family 6BSXS.3422HT 276454. I think the engine model is 276454. I bought it in 2006. Never put fuel in it to avoid gumming up carb. Needed it this past week. put fuel in and started like a champ. 2 pulls. I have a transfer switch for the power to house. after plugging cabel wired to xfer switch I had one load (well pump) on the panel which is normally on a 20 amp circuit and was using the 30 amp 240v service outlet on the generator. The load was loading the generator and I thought it was about to stablize in about 15 seconds. Heard a kind of mechanical clank sound and engine stopped immendiately. Engine has no compression now but spark is firing. I expect I have a broken rod or something internal. Any suggestions. Replace the engine? What are chances I can get B&S to cover replacement engine since it is evident that it has not been run.
