Turn the genset to "OFF".
Open the control panel to access the control board.
On the board is a 17-pin connector.
In this connector, locate the wires numbered 224 and 225.
Set your meter to VAC, and connect one lead to each of these wires. You should see about 16VAC.
What voltage do you get?

well i set my meter at 200 volts i get 4 volts and then i put my meter on 2000 m - ac and i get 1700
For some reason, it looks like part of your original question was cut off.
All it says is that when in auto, the genset starts and runs, and then transfers.
Does it to this while utility power is still available?
Also, what is the 'M' on your meter?
What is the lowest range of AC voltage you can set your meter to?
