if my pto switch keeps burning out , is my pto clutch bad? if not what could be the problem?
Hi, and thank you for letting me try and assist you with your problem.
Yes, There was a bad batch of pto switches a couple years ago but the most common reason a pto switch continues to burn out is because the clutch is bad.
I had a buddy with a cub rtz and he had the same problem you do.
Replaced the clutch and has been fine ever since.

can a clutch be rebuilt or is it cheaper to buy a new one?
Buy new.

The answer you gave me was't correct. I replaced Clutch ($316) and new pto switch ($25). Still didn't work, we jiggled a lot of wires and it worked with the new switch , we put the old switch back on and it worked 1 time again. then, nothing again, don't know where theres a short at, but believe now that there is an electrical short.
