Unhook the small wire that plugs into the coil. Take the spark plug out of it and put a couple of tablespoons of gas into the plug hole. Put the plug back in and attach the wire. Try to start it and see what it does. Let me know.

After putting a small amount of fuel in the cobustion chamber I had one small back fire through the exhaust

I tried applyinng a small amout of fuel in the combustion chamber and got only one back fire, no start, is it true there is no points and condenser on this model engine?
It has no points and condensor. Check the flywheel key to make sure it is not sheared.

I removed the flywheel and checked the woodruff key it fits tight in the shaft, but appears to have 10k or less play side to side with flywheel attached, and not bolted down.
The flywheel should be tight on the crank. I would get a new key to be safe.
