Resolved Question:

when starting,solenoid clicks several times before starter engages,would this be the starter or the solenoid,or something else. the battery is fully charged.this is on an 1999 mercruiser 350 mag mpi

The clicking noise is the solenoid working but not transfering battery voltage across the pole to starter. Normally this is a ground problem. Check ground straps from engine back to the battery normally these are overlooked. If the ground cant make it to the battery on the first start it will click until it heats from battery load and then complete and start.
