VerifiedI would be inclined to try a couple of things first....
The issue with the reverse need for you to UNPLUG !!....roll on it's back and remove the base cover.
Jiggle the reverse button/lever to see where it all attaches, then use a liberal amount of rubbing alcohol to loosen any old oil etc....then a small amount of machine oil and jiggle again to work it in.
It may take several applications over a couple of days to get it going....rarely they do not respond at all.
Looping thread underneath is a top thread tension issue...there is likely to be some lint or thread trapped and if you use a piece of fabric to "floss" the tension plates (like you would your teeth) this will generally remove the caught fibres.
............ these are general pointers for ANY machine.

Please do read it and not just say that you have tried to clean it and it did not work....
There may also be a small burr on the tip of the hook, under the bobbin case....

The tip needs to be smooth or it will create variable issues from shredding thread, to catching, breaking, skipping....needs to be polished smooth with very fine emery paper.
EVERYWHERE from thread spool to needle, and from bobbin to form the stitch must be smooth....especially around the hole in the needleplate
