Customer Question

We replaced thermostat on a 2003 Saturn vue v6 and while doing so went ahead and replaced head gaskets and cam sensors. After putting everything back together the engine runs fine until it reaches normal operating temp then the three cylinders on the back side it the engine quit firing altogether. Any suggestions?

Hi Im David, thanks for visiting the site. what was the reason for replacing t-stat, head gaskets and cam sensors?

Customer: replied 10 months ago.
Well we noticed water disappearing for quite some time so we knew water was leaking somewhere, then one time it started to overheat and that's when we started tearing the engine apart to get to the thermostat. We had to take so many things apart just to Detroit to it that we decided to go ahead and change all those other parts while we were at it

ok. so this wasnt an existing problem. do a pressure test on the cooling system. there are a few possibilities here. 1. the heads werent torqued to spec or in sequence. 2. the gasket put on wrong(it is possible). if the pressure test is ok, we will move on.
