I have a 2008 Saturn extra that has been getting worked on

Customer Question

I have a 2008 Saturn extra that has been getting worked on for several months. It is at the dealership currently where it is finally running. But it is still making the same rattling noise that would cause the engine to shake, and stall out. I just ran it for a bit to make sure it wouldn't stall out, and it started knocking and squealing. When looking under the hood, sparks were spurting next to the belt. Not sure what to do now, they and other mechanics have been stumped for months.

sparks were coming from where can you identify whats sparking ? what engine?

Customer: replied 2 years ago.
1.8 ecotec engine, sparks by the serpentine belt. Knocking noise seems to be coming from the a.c. compressor.

Sounds like a failed ac compressor or clutch. I would pull the belt and examine.. replacement would be the fix

Replace the compressor, or just the clutch??

Both. Buy an assembly
