if the alarm sounded when you opened the door, and then it would not start, then you have to disable the alarm

is this a factory alarm?

a factory alarm will honk the horn but a non factory horn will sound a siren

the factory alarm is overridden in this way...

first, if you have the key fob that unlocks the doors, and it works, you use the fob to unlock the door and the alarm should shut off.

if you don't have the fob or it isn't working, you need to open the drivers door, turn the key to run (all lights on dash come on) and wait 20 minutes

that will reset the alarm

then it should start

yes even when the alarm is sounding you need to do this for 20 minutes

ya it doesnt go off when i try to use the remote. it wont drain the battery if i wait it out will it?

if the battery is low on charge, put jumper cables on it
15yearsaturnguy :
it might kill it if it is low already

try a new battery in the fob after you get it started

ok, i had it fully recharged last week and havent had the battery hooked up since i got it recharged so it should be ok.

with the new battery installed, press lock and unlock on the fob until the doors lock and unlock by themselves to indicate you have re-aligned the remote to the car
