Hello, this sounds like a bad RF hub bearing going bad. turning left, puts more load on the RF hub bearing. I have also seen brake apply etc affect the hub bearing noises as well.

  1. Remove steering knuckle and hub assembly as outlined under STEERING KNUCKLE & HUB ASSEMBLY.
  2. Remove splash shields, then ABS wheel speed sensor, is equipped.
  3. Install wheel bearing/hub removal tool No. SA9159S or equivalent, Fig. 3, then place assembly in suitable soft jawed vise, Fig. 4.
  4. Hold hub drive with suitable wrench, tighten driver screw to remove hub.
  5. Install inner race puller, Fig. 5, then remove inner bearing race.
  6. Remove steering knuckle from vise, then remove bridge retainer and bridge.
  7. Using suitable snap ring pliers, remove bridge snap ring.
  8. Using knuckle support tube and small driver, Fig. 6, press out bearing.
  9. Reverse to assemble.

would that be the same as a wheel bearing because it seemed to turn easily when i changed the cv shaft

Yes, however it is pressed into the wheel hub so it is actually called a "hub bearing". Turning by hand will rarely give any indication of a failing bearing. bearing noises 99% of the time are while weight on them /underload. When you turn to the left, the right side of car leans to right and shifts more weightv that way. Thus putting more weight on the hub bearing and causing noise. The first thing we do on road test for bearing noises is to get car in straight line on road, The we do gentle swerves left/right. If noise turning left? RF bearing bad, turning right and noise? LF bearing bad.
