2004 saturn ion: trunk..what cables to disconnect to replace it

My boyfriends has a 2004 saturn ion and the battery is dead. We found the battery in the trunk but for some reason he doesnt know what cables to disconnect to replace it. It has been a week and i am fed up so i need to know how to replace this battery. A picture would be helpful if you have one because aparently thats the problem hes not sure which cables are going where. Help?

  • Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  • Disconnect the positive battery cablegraphic
  • Remove the battery hold down retainer bolt and retainer.

  • Remove the battery brace bolt and brace.

  • Remove the battery. IMPORTANT: Do not tip the battery more than 40 degrees during removal.
