Saab Mechanic: David Craig, Auto Mechanic replied 1 month ago

were you having this issue before installing the alarm system?

Ask Your Own Saab Question
Customer reply replied 1 month ago
No the burgled alarm would just go off random times so I changed it
Saab Mechanic: David Craig, Auto Mechanic replied 1 month ago

was the previous alarm factory or stock?

Ask Your Own Saab Question
Customer reply replied 1 month ago
I am not around the car at the time it is at the mechanics place now
Saab Mechanic: David Craig, Auto Mechanic replied 1 month ago

just wondering if the alarm system that was in the vehicle was original

Ask Your Own Saab Question
Customer reply replied 1 month ago
it came on the car far as I know it would run fine before did change the oil cooler that's in the center of motor though
Saab Mechanic: David Craig, Auto Mechanic replied 1 month ago

ok, and an aftermarket alarm was installed to replace the stock one?

Ask Your Own Saab Question
Customer reply replied 1 month ago
bought off ebay
Saab Mechanic: David Craig, Auto Mechanic replied 1 month ago

ok, I run into this all of the time. when an aftermarket system is installed, the installer splices into the wrong wires and it sets the immobilizer.

Ask Your Own Saab Question
Customer reply replied 1 month ago
It will crank but as soon as it does it dies take battery cable off and put back on and it will crank again and die
Customer reply replied 1 month ago
It's just a plug on it don't think the wires have been spliced
Saab Mechanic: David Craig, Auto Mechanic replied 1 month ago

sounds like a bad install on the alarm. you need to have the mechanic check to see if the immobilizer dropped the key code.

Ask Your Own Saab Question
Customer reply replied 1 month ago
How do you get the code back
Saab Mechanic: David Craig, Auto Mechanic replied 1 month ago

the key will need reprogrammed

Ask Your Own Saab Question
Customer reply replied 1 month ago
I carried it to thechevrolet dealer and they couldn't fix it
Saab Mechanic: David Craig, Auto Mechanic replied 1 month ago

do you know what they tried?

Ask Your Own Saab Question
Customer reply replied 1 month ago

Saab Mechanic: David Craig, Auto Mechanic replied 1 month ago

Saab Mechanic: David Craig, Auto Mechanic replied 1 month ago

2.3 or 3.0?

Ask Your Own Saab Question
Customer reply replied 1 month ago
I think 2.3 it has turbo
Saab Mechanic: David Craig, Auto Mechanic replied 1 month ago

ok

Ask Your Own Saab Question
Customer reply replied 1 month ago
Not positive
Saab Mechanic: David Craig, Auto Mechanic replied 1 month ago

ok, this has to be done with just the key taken to the dealer and reprogrammed.

Ask Your Own Saab Question
Customer reply replied 1 month ago
What do I tell them?
Saab Mechanic: David Craig, Auto Mechanic replied 1 month ago

that you need to have the key reprogrammed to the VIN of your vehicle.

Ask Your Own Saab Question
Customer reply replied 1 month ago
that will fix it?
Saab Mechanic: David Craig, Auto Mechanic replied 1 month ago

if the theft light isnt going out when cranking the engine, yes.

Ask Your Own Saab Question
Customer reply replied 1 month ago
Where is the theft light
Saab Mechanic: David Craig, Auto Mechanic replied 1 month ago

it is either a symbol of a key and lock, a car with a key inside it or a small blinking red light on the dash

Ask Your Own Saab Question
Customer reply replied 1 month ago
You did understand that it will crank and run just a second then die right?
Customer reply replied 1 month ago
Ok I know what you mean
Saab Mechanic: David Craig, Auto Mechanic replied 1 month ago

yes, and thats a sign of the immobilizer be activated

Saab Mechanic: David Craig, Auto Mechanic replied 1 month ago

whats up?

Ask Your Own Saab Question
Customer reply replied 1 month ago
About sick of this thing about to junk it
Customer reply replied 1 month ago
It's over a hundred miles from here one way just to see if they will program the key and I don't know when I will be able to go that would be two hundred miles and then it might not work.
Saab Mechanic: David Craig, Auto Mechanic replied 1 month ago

without the car being near, this is going to be difficult to have you check anything.

Ask Your Own Saab Question
Customer reply replied 1 month ago
it is still in the garage and I don't know when I can go get it . How long does this last?
Saab Mechanic: David Craig, Auto Mechanic replied 1 month ago

Ask Your Own Saab Question
Customer reply replied 1 month ago

Is this a sure way to check to see if it has lost the code try to crank it and if the light goes out it has lost the code? Or has not lost the code?
Saab Mechanic: David Craig, Auto Mechanic replied 1 month ago

if the light goes out it's not an anti-theft problem
