Thought I'd try to replace the ignition lock cylinder myself

Customer Question

Thought I'd try to replace the ignition lock cylinder myself on my 1993 Saab 900. Is this doable for a novice to tackle? Currently the key won't always turn.
JA: Can you turn the steering wheel at all? And what about the key? Is it worn or damaged?
Customer: Steering wheel turns fine. Key is good. Ignition works fine if I leave the key in but if removed it doesn't always turn.
JA: Are you fixing your 900 yourself? What have you tried so far?
Customer: Just the basics. Oil changes etc
JA: Anything else you want the mechanic to know before I connect you?
Customer: That about covers it. Thanks!
