Hi Jerry,

Have you tried opening the outer handle, sometimes you may need a little tool to help the latch come out while holding the outer handle out?

I tried that but still can,t move the latch open it move in and out a little but do not open
Expert:  Gary replied 1 year ago.

Was the door attempted to be closed with the latch already down?

If so, the lock assembly may be damaged, and needs to be replaced.

If you try this on the other door, you will see what I mean.

On the other door, operate the latch to the first step or the second if you wish with your finger, BUT DO NOT SHUT THE DOOR.

Now operate the inside or outside handle. If the latch releases on it's on, all well and good.

If it doesn't, keep the handle in the released position, and the latch should release with a gentle push of a screwdriver etc.

Can you try this?
