electrical failure on next usage of car. After grinding started shut off in neutral and the into park, then remove key.

It sounds like you have a couple problems going on. The grinding into park was most likely a mechanical issue, a misadjusted shift cable is likely, and the trans was not fully going into park. The electrical issues could be a wiring or power distribution issue but issues like this are often caused by a failed ignition switch.

With the shifter in park are you able to push the car or do you feel a hard mechanical lock?
