We just purchased a 2014 Vibe V-Cross, we had a 2019 Cougar 27SAB. When filling the fresh water tank on the Cougar there was a pressure relief over flow, how do you know when the fresh water tank is full on the V-Cross?

Good morning, Bill. All freshwater tanks have an overflow installed to keep them from bursting when overfull. Most people keep an eye on the levels gauge to know when the tank is full. Best not to have the water on full blast and be sure that you have an inline pressure regulator installed on the hose to limit the pressure to 40 psi. I hope this information proves helpful here.

Where would I find the overflow? No water came out of the tank and it expanded and fell from the rail mount. I had to open the drain to lift it back into the rails but I did not see an overflow on the tank.If the only way to monitor refill of the tank is to have a person inside watching the gauge, this becomes a two person job. One to be inside watching the gauge and one to turn on and off the water, that can't be right, can it?Our Cougar, with the overflow was set up so you turned on the water and when it came out the overflow the tank was full.

Sorry for the delay. I was on a phone call chat with another customer.

If there was no overflow on this tank, then someone made a mistake at the factory and the inspection failed to catch this. Yes, you are correct about the overflow and I would contact the dealer and report this right away and have them replace this tank or add an overflow drain. Or you can add one with some parts from a local RV shop or dealer. Not that hard.

I am not sure how this failed to be noticed over the last 8 or so years! Maybe the previous owner never used the pump and freshwater tank. Pretty strange!

There is a hose that goes to the upper portion of the tank but there is a shut off valve on the bottom of the hose and it is closed. Do you think this is the overflow?We live in Florida and this trailer has had one previous owner, in GA. It looks like it was seldom or never pulled and probably was set up as a week-end use at a campground, so maybe they never used the on board tank. I drained and flushed the water heater and the anode rod was badly eaten so clearly there had been water use.

Probably. They sometimes install a shutoff valve to keep the bugs out of the line and tank. I suspect that they just rarely, if ever, used the tank. Make sure that you have it securely put back in place. Tanks full of water are very heavy. Water weighs 8 lbs per gallon.

I opened the valve as I was filling the tank and it immediately relieved the pressure. The valve is close to the top but not at the top so the tank only filled just above 3/4. Strange system and there is no place to put in another valve as there are no other reinforced areas to install one. Thanks for the help.
